Privacy Policy
Discovia matches people with free product samples from partner brands. To do that we have to know a few things about you, and we have to know where to send the parcel. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
| Account | First name, last name, email address, password (stored as a hash, never in plain text), date of birth, and how you identify, which is optional. |
|---|---|
| Profile | Display name, gender, date of birth, shipping region, shipping address, a short bio, your interests, and a profile photo if you upload one. |
| Applications | The product you applied for, your WhatsApp contact, your email if you gave one, your Amazon account identifier, and the date you applied. |
| Content you send us | The photos and video you produce for a product, and the written feedback you submit with them. |
| Support requests | Your name if you provide it, your email address, your message, and any files you attach. |
| Technical data | IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit on the site. |
Why we use it
- To decide which samples you qualify for, based on the answers in your profile.
- To ship samples to you, which means passing your name and address to a delivery company.
- To confirm that you are 18 or over before you take part.
- To review the content and feedback you submit for a product.
- To answer your support requests.
- To detect duplicate accounts, fraud and abuse.
- To understand which parts of the service are used, so we can improve them.
Who we share it with
- Partner brands. A brand sees the profile answers that decide matching, such as your interests and your region. It does not see your email address, your phone number or your shipping address.
- Delivery companies. Your name and shipping address, so the parcel can reach you.
- Service providers. Hosting, email delivery, file storage and analytics providers who process data on our instructions.
- Legal. Where we are required to by law, or to protect the rights and safety of others.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.
How long we keep it
- Account data: while your account is open, then up to 24 months.
- Applications: up to 24 months.
- Content and feedback: up to 36 months, because a brand may need the material across a product's lifetime.
- Support messages: up to 24 months.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to transfer it to another service, or object to a particular use. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Write to privacy@discoviaclub.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the UK or the EEA you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have the rights set out in the CCPA, including the right to know what we collect and the right to ask us to delete it.
Children
Discovia is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete the data.
Cookies and local storage
What we store in your browser, and how to control it, is set out in the Cookie Notice.
Where your data is processed
We may process your data outside the country you live in, including in the United States. Where we transfer data out of the UK or the EEA we rely on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
Security
Passwords are stored as hashes, traffic is encrypted in transit, and access to personal data is limited to the people who need it to do their job. No system is perfect, and we will tell you if a breach affects you.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant we will tell you by email or in the app.
